Zamosc
- Zamość is a poviat city (land county) situated in the south-eastern Poland (Lublin Highland). Being one of the most authentic Renaissance cities left in Europe, Zamość is known as "Renaissance Pearl" and "Padua of the North".
Zamość was founded in 1580 on the initiative of Jan Zamoyski, The Great Crown Hetman and Chancellor. The town was designed by an Italian architect Bernardo Morando and has been a great achievement of late Renaissance European thought. Zamość remains a perfect example of a Renaissance town of the late 16th century, which retains its original layout and fortifications as well as a large number of buildings blending Italian and central European architectural traditions.
