Swietochlowice
- ¦wiêtoch³owice is a town located in ¦l±skie Voivodeship (Province), southern Poland, in the centre of the Upper Silesian Industrial Area.
History of ¦wiêtoch³owice dates back to the 13th century. The first reference to the town appears in 1313 in the document of Jan - the Bishop of Cracow; however, today's district of the town - Chropaczow was mentioned as early as 1295 in the document issued by Casimir II, Duke of Bytom and Ko¼le.
At the beginning, ¦wiêtoch³owice was formed by two separate settlements: Ma³e ¦wiêtochowive (Small ¦wiêtoch³owice, the so called ¦wiêtoch³ówki) and Great ¦wiêtoch³owice. The second village was established at end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century and was based on Magdeburg Law.
