Stargard Szczecinski
- Stargard Szczeciński is one of the oldest settlements in the Western Pomerania. The origins of the town date back to the 8th and 9th century; at that time, another settlement - Osetno - developed 1km from today's town centre. Its inhabitants helped to build the settlement on the bend of the Ina River - in the area of today's Białogłówka Tower.
The development of Starogard, which lasted from the 9th to the 12th century, was possible due to the town's location on the intersection of important trade routes leading from Wolin island to Poznań and from Szczecin to the east and south. The Ina River played a significant role in the growth of the town as well.
The accelerated development of Stargard was observed after it received town rights in 1243 (granted by the Pomeranian Duke Barnim I).
