Siedlce
- Siedlce is the capital of the poviat located in Mazowieckie Voivodeship (Province); the town is situated on the Muchawka River, in eastern Poland.
The first reference to the town dates back to 1448.
Four major factors influenced the configuration of today's Siedlce, namely: the establishment of the village of Siedlce, location of the town on the Magdeburg Law in 1547 (the location right was granted by King Sigismund the Old), founding of the barony as well as incorporation of the nearby villages or their parts into the town.
In the first years of its existence, Siedlce developed dynamically. The area of the town enlarged five times, the population grew, new merchants and craftsmen were arriving. The development of the town was hindered by the war which broke out in the middle of the 17th century.
