Radom
- Radom is a city located in central Poland on the Mleczna River, Mazowieckie Voivodeship (Province). Until 1975 Radom belonged to Kieleckie Voivodeship, in the years 1975-1998 to Radomskie Voivodeship and from 1998 it has been the seat of the poviat authorities.
The first reference to the name Radom appears in the papal edict of Hadrian IV from 1155 where the existence of Wrocław Bishopric was confirmed.
The oldest medieval settlement was founded at the end of the 8th century on the both sides of the Mleczna River, to the north-west of today's moud known as "Piotrówka". The establishment of the rural settlement was possible thanks to the felling of the forests. The settlers burnt the wood and in this way received a layer of humus.
