Raciborz
- Racibórz is a town situated in ¦l±skie Voivodeship (Province), southern Poland, on the western edge of the Rybnik Coal District - one of the most importnat economic centres in the country.
The Racibórz Land is located in the valley of the upper Odra River, on the border with the Racibórz-O¶wiêcim Basin which is surrounded by the the Carpathian Foothills (Pogórze Karpackie), the Opawskie Mountains, and Silesian Upland (Wy¿yna ¦l±ska). Among the hills there is a natural lowering of the ground - the so-called snouts.
Racibórz settlement existed as early as in the 9th century and protected the trade route which ran through the Odra River and led to Poland through the Moravian Gate (Brama Morawska). The settlement was located on the intersection of the trade routes connecting the Czech Republic and Moravia with Cracow, Ruthenia and Silesia.
