Nysa
- Nysa is a district town located in the southern part of Opolskie Voivodeship (Province) on the Nysa Kłodzka River, Sudetian Foreland (Przedgórze Sudeckie). There are two water basins nearby: Nysa Lake and Otmuchów Lake.
History of the Nysa land dates back to the beginnings of the Polish state. The first references to the town appear in the papal edict from 1155 in which Hadrian IV mentions Otmuchów. The settlement, together with located nearby Bardo, constituted a group of settlements which strengthen the southern border of the Silesian district.
The document issued in 1223 mentions the voivode's office characteristic to the towns based on Flemish law - the same according to which Nysa has been founded; it allows us to assume that Nysa received town charter no later than 1223.
