Lomza
- Łomża is a town located in north-eastern Poland in Podlaskie Voivodeship (Province); it is situated on the Narew River.
The town was founded in the 10th century, 5 kilometers from today's town centre, on the high slope in the Narew Valley.
The small fortified settlement which was established in the first part of the 11th century was burnt down at the end of the century. In the middle of the 12th century, the settlement was rebuilt with its fortifications - the tower in the centre and the two ramparts.
St. Laurence Hill, located in Old Łomża (next to the old settlement) and closely connected with the origins of the town, is a place where, according to the tradition and the church documents, the first parish church was established around the year 1000.
