Karpacz
- Karpacz is a typical mountain resort located on the Łomnica River and its tributaries, at the foot of Śnieżka - the highest mountain peak in the Karkonosze Mountains. This area is the most attractive part of the Western Sudeten Monutains and the most characteristic place of the Karkonosze Range. The town is located at the altitude ranging from 480 to 885 meters above sea level, in the narrow and steep Łomnica Valley.
The first reference to Karpacz dates back to the end of the 14th century.
The first settlers who came to Karpacz were attracted by the ores of gold, silver and iron. What is more, according to the first records regarding the town, there was a large number of the woodcutters who made it possible to settle the area. The first settlements in Wilcza Poręba, Budnik and Bierutowice were established at this time.
