• Istebna is a village which together with Jaworzynka and Koniaków create a Trivillage. It is located in Beskid Śląski, near the border with the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
  
  The first reference to Istebna appears in 1621 in the Record of the Cieszyn Duchy, where all the duties of the village inhabitants, which were to be in force from 1643, were written. The villagers were obliged to produce shingles and to fell and float the wood for the castle in Cieszyn.
  
  In 1716, a Jesuit Father Leopold Tempes came to Jabłonkowo with the mission to convert the local highlanders to Catholicism. Soon, he got to Istebna, where in 1720 he built a wooden chapel and a school. In 1794, thanks to Tempes's efforts, the building of a new wooden Church of the Good Shepherd was finished, and in 1819 a new wooden school was founded.
